Hommage Chantal Akerman
LaCinetek is offering a retrospective of 10 films, including 8 in restored version by CINEMATEK.

Furthermore, LaCinetek offers exclusive bonus features shot with close friends and acquaintances of Chantal Akerman (Stanislas Merhar for La Captive, Alexandre Moussa and Jan Decorte for Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Brussels, Claire Atherton for D’Est, musical accompaniment by Sonia Wieder-Atherton for Saute ma ville (to be confirmed) as well as television footage taken from the archive collections of the INA.

Finally, LaCinetek will publish a list of the 50 films that have marked the life and work of Chantal Akerman, as part of its series “The films of their lives”. Among others Jean-Luc Godard’s Pierrot le fou, which triggered her vocation as a filmmaker when she discovered it at the age of 16, and the experimental films that marked her stay in New York; the films cited in her films (such as Vertigo in La Captive) or those elements from Bresson’s work that inspired her, Tati’s burlesque, or Busby Berkeley’s choreographed songs… This unpublished list was compiled from interviews with the filmmaker and completed by those close to the director, including her editor Claire Atherton, her partner Sonia Wieder-Atherton and her producer Marilyn Watelet.
